Viewer Question: Returning Student & Chemistry in Anatomy & Physiology.

I received this great question the other day from Andrew.

Hello and Greetings.

I’m a student and I am registered to take A&P this fall semester. I heard that the class was very difficult so I decided to get a head start and buy my books 2 months early. I’ve been studying for awhile now and have had great results. However, I have had a halt in my studying when I come to the chemistry section of my book. I have a chemistry background, however chemistry it seems is one of those things if you don’t use it, you lose it. It’s not very difficult for me, the fundamentals, but more or less the amount of information and where to begin that is holding me up.

I went to our local library and checked out various books, one says “guaranteed to boost your grade in 1 month” on the cover. I’m not looking for instant results but I am looking for some direction. I suppose my question(s) is where do I start? Do I start with the bare bones of chemistry, atoms, molecules, the periodic table, gases? Or do I study what is most important in A&P class and what only applies? Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, your videos are funny and educational, both of which I believe are needed to teach a class with such volume and difficult concepts.

Thank you for your time!

–Andrew
